The business was first started in the 70’s when Great Grandpa Thompson moved his family to the North Coast. He was starting a new career after serving in the U.S. Navy as a fighter pilot during WWII and Korea. In all, he served 30 years for his country.
In the early 80″s he moved from Crescent City to open and operate the Village Pantry Restaurants in Arcata and Fortuna. In 1986, after the Eureka and McKinleyville locations were added, his son Richard and his wife KT joined the operation, along with his youngest son David.
In 1995, Richard and Kt’s son Eli and his wife Kathryn joined the business making this 3 generations of family working in the business. Currently they have the fourth generation of family working in the business with 3 of their 4 children working in the Arcata restaurant, Nicole, Robert and Logan. While their middle son, Tyler has followed in Grandpa’s footsteps and is currently serving in the US Air Force.
we are now only operating 2 locations here in Humboldt, Arcata and Eureka, but you can be guaranteed that you will always see a family member working and we are excited to see the 5th generation one day also work in the business.
